Executive builds in Carlisle

North East care provider the Executive Care Group has started building a private nursing home development on a two-acre site at the front of the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle. This was the site of the old Cumberland lnfirmary’s day hospital and assessment centre, both of which were replaced when the new Cumberland Infirmary opened in 2000. Initially, the Executive Care Group will provide a three-storey, 80-bed care home made up of four units comprising residential and nursing facilities together with residential and nursing care for elderly mentally infirm people. There will also be another 31-bed, two-storey rehabilitation and care facility built on the site. Carlisle Hospitals NHS Trust (now North Cumbria Acute Hospitals NHS Trust) sold the leasehold interest in this land to Fitness First Clubs in 2000 for the development of a private health and fitness club, but Fitness First subsequently sold on their interest in this land to Executive Care Group which now has planning consent to develop the site for n
