|Fresh guidance on choice of accommodation is laden with gifts for care home owners, but can they make the most of them, asks Bob Ferguson| Have you noticed how often the pivotal moments in life pass us by? Watersheds aren¹t always as obvious at the time as they are in retrospect. With that in mind, I aim to short circuit the time lapse process by alerting you now to what is, arguably, one of the most momentous events to have hit the care home sector in the past decade. In all honesty, in its present state, it¹s less a happening than an opportunity to make things happen. In other words, it will have to be worked at. Can that hype possibly be justified? Judge for yourselves. But first, a word of appreciation for those responsible ­ our friends at the Department of Health. Before you ask, no, this isn¹t a wind up, though I can understand why you might have some difficulty with the apparent contradiction.
