Hutt announces strategic group

A new group which will bring together all the key interests across the whole care sector in Wales has been announced by health and social services minister Jane Hutt. “The Å’Wales Strategic Care Group¹ will be an important source of strategic advice to the Assembly and will serve as a catalyst for more effective partnerships at local level between the users of the services and providers,” said Ms Hutt. “Crucially it will cover the whole care sector, including nursing, residential and domiciliary care and care services provided with housing. “We need to develop care services which properly meet the diverse and changing needs of an ageing population. That requires strategic vision, and the Wales Strategic Care Group will make a valuable contribution towards that. “We need a strong and vibrant care sector which has the stability and confidence to develop more flexible models of care ­ and respond to the challenge of raising standards.
