Life Style opens £4m Heritage facility

With the opening of a new 72-bed care home in Tooting, South London , Life Style Care has increased its portfolio of of care homes to 18, with about 1,250 beds. Built on the site of the former Tooting Bec Hospital, the £4m Heritage Care Centre will provide accommodation for a mix of self-pay and local authority funded residents, with 35 frail elderly people on the ground floor, and 37 elderly mentally ill residents on the first floor. Life Style Care operations director Paul Ware said the centre would employ up to 90 full and part-time staff, with two staff flats accommodating up to eight key health workers. “Life Style Care has a reputation for successfully negotiating with local authorities,” Mr Ware said. “We look forward to reaching a similar, mutually benefiacial relationship with the London Borough of Wandsworth.”
