Mattresses with a choice of firmness

Tempur-Med visco-elastic pressure-relieving mattresses are supplied in three levels of firmness to offer a level of support and comfort to match both the risk profile and the weight of the individual patient. The manufacturers say that, although Tempur-Med mattresses are known for their comfort and enhanced pressure-relieving performance, firmness could be an important selection factor. “If a lightweight patient is placed on too firm a mattress, the thermo-sensitive, visco-elastic Tempur material may not mould itself fully to his or her body profile,” says the company. “As a result, it may feel hard and uncomfortable. By selecting the correct Tempur-Med mattress, the level of comfort can now be increased. Conversely, a heavier patient should be placed on a firmer Tempur-Med mattress.” The company says all Tempur-Med Premier mattresses are supplied with a full eight-year guarantee, and are simple to use, as they never need to be turned once placed on the bed frame. “This also reduces the scope for manual handl
