Meridian buys in Knotty Ash

Tameside-based Meridian Healthcare has acquired another purpose built care home in Merseyside. Ash Court Care Centre in Knotty Ash has 35 single bedrooms, all with ensuite facilities and one companion room, bringing the total number of beds available within the group to 965. The acquisition follows the purchase of three care centres from Cornerstone Care in Merseyside in July 2004, and the development of a new 60-bed facility in Holmfirth earlier this year. Meridian managing director Alan Firth said the new home complemented Meridian Healthcare1s current portfolio of residential and nursing centres and would further strengthen its northern offering. “The acquisition is in line with Meridian Healthcare1s strategy of developing its portfolio of quality care centres outside its core Tameside area,” said Mr Firth. “The group now has a total of 965 beds, and is now operating four residential homes in the Merseyside area. We look forward to introducing the manager at Ash Court Care Centre to the rest of the group.
