MPS, a private family owned business, with two care homes near Preston and one in Derbyshire, has acquired the business and assets of Guylin Care Homes which has properties near Gainsborough and Retford. The directors of MPS, Paul and Neil Gray, said the acquisition had strengthened the group’s presence geographically and had substantially increased the numbers of both staff and beds. The company, which previously had 142 beds and 140 staff, now has 200 beds and 220 employees following the purchase of Guylin Both new care homes – which are grade two listed buildings – offer nursing as well as residential care to elderly people. Derby and Nottingham law firm Flint Bishop and Barnett acted for MPS. Earlier this year the firm’s corporate team advised major Leicestershire-based nursing homes group Rushcliffe Care on its acquisition of a Derbyshire care homes business from Arleston View Ltd.
