New MD for Guardian Care Homes

Marlene Butler, a highly experienced nurse who spent 10 years working in the inspection and registration unit of Lincolnshire Health Authority is the new managing director of Guardian Care Homes UK. Formed in 1992, Guardian now runs 11 care homes around England and Scotland — three of them in the Lincolnshire area – employing 350 people. The former managing director, Gary Hartland, now takes on the new role of chairman of the group and plans to focus on major expansion of the business, including the acquisition of new homes. “Guardian Care Homes retains a ‘family’ feel in which everyone is recognised for the job they do,” said Ms Butler. “The group is developing rapidly and I am pleased that my role will be to maintain Guardian’s sense of direction from the angle of quality care practices and procedures, while Gary concentrates on continuing to expand the business.” Marlene Butler joins Guardian from Halcyon Care Group, where she had been director of care services for three years.
