Reed announces health demerger

Recruitment organisation Reed Executive plc has announced a “demerger” of its healthcare business, creating the Reed Health Group to focus exclusively on working with hospitals and social services, providing personnel and related services to the healthcare market. Reed Health Group managing director Christa Echtle said the demerger would allow the group to increase its flexibility to finance growth and make appropriate acquisitions through the issue of the company¹s securities, and increase the group¹s standing with NHS Trusts, local authorities and other key clients. “The national shortage of social work staff means that it is becoming increasingly difficult to ensure that vulnerable people get the care they need at the right time,” Ms Echtle said. “By working in partnership with social services departments, Reed Health Group helps to ensure the supply of qualified social workers and care assistants, and so keep services running.”
