MHA Care Group has opened Maple Leaf House, a new specialist nursing dementia care home in Ripley, Derbyshire. The home offers care for 45 residents in single bedrooms with shower ensuites and incorporates what MHA says is current best practice design features for dementia care. These include colour coded wings, and large easily-accessed gardens with routes that always return to a doorway leading back into the building. Maple Leaf House has been developed in partnership with Derbyshire County Council and Greater Derby Primary Care Trust. Brian Coldwell, Chair of MHA Care Group said Maple Leaf House would help to alleviate some of the difficulties in providing care for people with dementia in the Amber Valley Area. “Our expertise in a person-centred approach to care will ensure not only the physical needs but also the individual spiritual needs of our residents are met,” Mr Coldwell said.
