Sunrise expects bright future for assisted living with European marketing director appointment

Sunrise Assisted Living has appointed Mike Girling as director of marketing, Europe. His role will be to oversee the marketing operations throughout the UK and the rest of Europe. Sunrise is set to invest £150 million in the UK over the next five years and has already confirmed three new sites in the UK ­ Virginia Water, Reigate and Elstree. Sunrise is also opening homes throughout Europe, including Germany. Mr Girling joins Sunrise following a lengthy career in the financial services industry where he was sales director for Brittanic Retirement Solutions and prior to that, sales director at GE Life. Sunrise pioneered the concept of assisted living in the USA, as an innovative model of care for elderly people which, says Sunrise, has become a way of life in America. “The success of the first Sunrise Assisted Living development in Kent suggests that the model will be as popular in the UK as America,” said Mr Girling. “Assisted Living turns old notions of nursing and residential care homes on its head by remo
