Caring Times, March 2018

Following an independent review of the care sector, the country’s official Consumer Association ‘Which?’ has named Greensleeves Care the best third sector care provider in their February edition. The authoritative guide is entitled “Finding a way through the broken care system” and was published in mid-January.

Greensleeves Care, a national care charity providing residential, dementia and nursing care, is also named the Best Care Provider in two regions; East of England and the South East. The findings are based on the inspection ratings of the care regulator, Care Quality Commission (CQC). 95% of Greensleeves Care’s 20 homes are rated Outstanding or Good, significantly outperforming the CQC’s benchmark data where one in four homes is rated as Requires Improvement or Inadequate.

As a dynamic and growing care charity, Greensleeves Care places a strong emphasis on innovation and quality improvement which are generated through a number of cutting-edge initiatives run through its dedicated Greensleeves Centre for Quality and Innovation, including current programmes exploring Nutrition and Hydration, Activities, Dementia Care and End of Life Care.

The charity has implemented the Eden Alternative philosophy of care at the majority of its care homes, which aims to improve the quality of life for residents by creating vibrant communities and alleviating loneliness, boredom and helplessness. Greensleeves Care is the largest Eden Alternative accredited provider in the UK.

Paul Newman, chief executive of Greensleeves Care, said: “We are delighted that the independent, national Consumer Association, Which?, has recognised the excellent quality of care provided by Greensleeves Care homes and has named us as the top third sector care provider in the country. Our homes in the South East and East of England were particularly pleased to be singled out for the outstanding work they do to support older people in their local areas. I thank and pay tribute to all the hardworking and dedicated Greensleeves Care staff
